This is our contemporary, personalized take on Grant Wood’s American Gothic, which is my favorite image to emulate. See the Webshots Photo of the Day for August 26, 2006 if you don’t believe me. My mom is holding a Magic Hat Wacko Summer Seasonal Ale (the transportation of which across state borders is apparently illegal, and I did not learn this until I had done it) and my dad boasts a Yuengling (which he does not drink because it is too dark for his baby taste). They have proudly roasted Smith’s hot dogs (made locally in Erie, PA) over the fire pit in our backyard. Of course, they are standing on the back porch with a cat and dog as the sun sets after a long day’s work. This is as American as it gets, people. Harmonsburg Gothic.
